IS THE NAACP A RACIST
ORGANIZATION?
Will they answer the 8
questions found below in this open letter, or hide
their faces in shame?
THE QUESTIONS FOR NAACP
Why
does the NAACP remain silent on the widespread
abuse of Native Americans as mascots?
NAACP
SILENT ON RACISM
- Why would the NAACP, who have made a reputation
by exposing racist practices, remain silent on racism directed toward
Native Americans?
- Their constitution states the principal object
for the organization is to insure equality for ALL minorities, not
just some African Americans.
MUTUAL HISTORIES OF PERSECUTION

- Were the Native American people who were unjustly
killed in mass by the United States Government any different from
the African American people who were brought to this country in mass
to be used as slaves?
- Is there really any difference between the
two legacies?

YOUR TURN AS MASCOT?
- What names and images would the NAACP allow
schools, universities and professional teams to use as mascots to
honor the African American People? TRIBAL CHIEFS?
- One good example would be the "N"
word. Native Americans find the
"R" word (redskin) just as derogatory. Imagine for a
second the Washington "N's". How long would this team name
stand?

ATHLETES WITH HONOR OR JUST UNCLE
TOMS WITH MONEY & MUSCLES? |
| Please state which African American athletes,
if any, would find honor and acceptance in having their race and
religions used as mascots?
If none can be named,
why would these same athletes play in a league that supports
this practice against another minority race?

OPEN MOCKERY IN PUBLIC
SCHOOLS
 |
Teachers at Washington
Elementary School, McPherson KS, dressed up this this wooden dummy
on the left for Kansas history. It stands in the front entryway
way of the school.
They easily could have dressed the one
on the right for Black History Month.

Indians don't like to
say these things, but if that is what it takes for you to understand
what this issue is about then these things need to be said. This issue
is about the dignity of our families as it should be about the dignity
of your families.
DO NOT SUPPORT INDIAN
MASCOTS
TODAY'S
ROLE MODELS: Rev. MARTIN LUTHER KING, Jr., OR BLACK ATHLETES?
- Does the NAACP think that African American
professional athletes and their teams are better role models than
the teachings of equality expressed by Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr.?
YOUR CHOICE: BLACK MASCOTS OR BLACK HYPOCRITES?
- Is the NAACP willing to tell the African American
people that they would like their culture, people and spiritual beliefs
used as mascots, or will they respond in support of the Native American
People?
- Has the NAACP become identical to the governmental
bureaucrats they once fought?
- Is it possible that they are unwilling to
take an unpopular stance against racism, have learned too well from
white opportunistic America and will hypocritically continue to do
to another race what was once done to their own?
DO SOMETHING OR WISH IT AWAY?
- The NAACP would call for a financial boycott
of any company that sold items which portray African Americans as
mascots.
- Why have they supported the sales of items
that portray Native Americans as mascots?
- Do they have a double standard and only feel
that equality is necessary for the African American's own race?
- Does the NAACP feel that they deserve to be
dishonored as mascots, as have the Native Americans?
DID MARTIN LUTHER KING DIE IN VAIN?
- If the NAACP still supports the beliefs of
Martin Luther King then they will call for and support a boycott of
any organization which portrays Native American's as mascots.
WHERE ARE THEIR ACTIONS?
We await your response
to this open letter. We hope that you will relearn to honor the teachings
of Martin Luther King, not the teachings of the might dollar and
the mighty white man.
Notified in January
of 1997 and still inactive. Will the NAACP answer & continue to
hide their faces?
